April 22nd, Lions U15 vs AQCC U15
The second match of the season was against Alpha Quashers, the runners up to the Lions in last years U15 Div 1 league final. Despite the history between these 2 teams, there was no bad feelings going into the game - many of the players know one another and they like playing against each other. So which side would win this encounter?
The Lions won the toss and elected to bowl first, preferring to chase.
Aditya K. and Aditya L. opened the batting for the Quashers, with Aditya K. getting off to a great start by hitting the opening ball for 4. Revenge was exacted by Timmy four balls later when he dismissed Aditya L. LBW. Manit then entered and put on a powerful batting display, reaching 40 within 18 balls and retiring because of the maximum runs rule - he would come back in at the end of the innings and score a further 25 balls before being dismissed for a total of 65 (bowled by Kaede and caught by Taiga). In addition to Manit, Aaryan put on a spirited display, holding on for 26 balls, however around them their teammates succumbed to an agressive Lions bowling attack, Timmy taking a further 3 wickets (all bowled), Josh, Nived and Taiga getting a wicket each and George and Timmy each getting a runout. AQCC reached 158/10 - a very good score.
The Lions innings was opened by Timmy and Kaede, Taiga opting to go in at number 3 for a change. Kaede was dismissed for 3 in the second over, being caught LBW by a swinging ball delivered by Aditya L. Taiga then entered and he and Timmy held their ends and started to accumulate runs. Timmy retired in the 10th over, on 34 after facing 26 balls, with Taiga also retiring in the same over on 40 having after facing 29 balls. Timmy would return to hit a further 37 runs off 9 balls and end not out, and Taiga a further 2 runs before getting bowled by Sashwat. Juto made a respectable 10 from six balls before being run out by Aditya L; the other Lion`s struggling against AQCC`s fielding with three more players also run out. The Lions made their target, however, in 16.5 overs, scoring a total of 161.
