U15 Div. 1 Semi Final, November 19th, Lions vs Men in Blue
The semi final of the Under 15 League, Division 1, was between the Lions and Men in Blue. This was the third finals day in a row the Lions have attended, and this year the team was desperate to come away as champions for the first time. The Lion`s were also joined by a new member, Jo Meekcoms.
The Lions won the toss and elected to bat. Taiga and Timmy opened the batting, staying in till their maximum permitted balls before having to retire, however not being able to score as freely as they wanted in the face of the Men in Blues Bowling. Kirren and Noah, batting next, also managed to stay in for long spells, however Noah quickly got into his stride and built up a score of 42, before being caught in what would have been his last over. The innings was finished with short spells from Jo (out lbw for 5 runs), Kaede and Ryoga (both not out). In the end the Lions ended up 144/3 off of 20 overs.
The Men in Blue now began the chase, with S. Bahuguna opening the batting and Timmy in attack; unfortunately for S. Bahuguna he was bowled for a golden duck. The Lions continued to bowl and field tightly through the innings, not letting the batsmen relax nor run up big scores. In all 6 of the Lions bowlers took wickets, with Taiga`s solid wicket keeping playing a part in 2 and three of the Lions also getting run outs. This was one of the best fielding performances of the year. in the end the Men in Blue were limited to 79 all out in the final over; the Lions progressing to the final for the first time.
